TRAINING RESOURCES

Canada practices two major debating formats: British Parliamentary (BP) and Canadian Parliamentary (CP). British Parliamentary format is the most prominent debating format, and is the format practiced at major debating tournaments, including the World’s University Debating Championship (WUDC). BP is most prominent in first semester (September-December) but it has become common for online tournaments to hold online BP tournaments throughout the year. Canadian Parliamentary is less common, and significantly different as it generally involves teams bringing their own cases to debate, rather than them being provided by the tournament. CP is most prominent in second semester (January-April). Here are some resources you can use to improve your skills in both of these formats.
